Members of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, attacked Mafa Local Government Area on Monday, destroying over 70 percent of structures in the area.
This is coming barely 24 hours after they launched similar attack in Ngomari Ward in Jere and Mainok town in Konduga Local Government Area. An eyewitness, who spoke with the new agency in Maiduguri said over 80 people may have been killed as dead bodies littered the community.
He also said that he saw casualty on both sides of the Boko Haram and the security personnel, who have been battling the insurgents since 8:00 am today, Monday. However, as at the time of filling this report, the official casualty figure has not been made available by either the police or the military authorities, as both the Police Public Relations Officer's line and that of the spokesman of the 7 Division Nigerian Army, Col. Muhammadu Dole was not going through.
