Auto Crash Kills 10, Injures Two in Bauchi

It was yet another tragic day yesterday in Bauchi State when no fewer than 10 persons were killed and two others sustained injuries as a commercial bus collided with a trailer. It was gathered that the accident which happened around 9.44 a.m., occurred along Sabon Gari-Nabordo village in Toro Local Government Area of the state. Investigation revealed that the bus, with registration number: GME 01 XA, was travelling from Bauchi to Abuja when it rammed into trailer with registration number: AH 45 JRE and both crashed into the bush. Meanwhile, a renew cult clash has claimed the lives of eight persons across Edo State, including  a 500 level Computer Science student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. Osajie Osamudiamen. While two were killed in Ekpoma, six persons were allegedly shot dead in Benin-City, the state capital.
For instance, Osamudiamen was allegedly shot in the head at a close range at a night club in Supreme Hotel, Ekpoma, headquarters of Esan West Local Government Area of the state.
A source disclosed that the 500 level student who until his death was allegedly the head of Buccaneer in AAU, had an issue with a rival cult group which was said to have been settled before he was killed.
Another casualty in the renew cult clash is a graduating female student of AAU who was said to have been poured acid on the face.
When contacted for response on the killing in his hotel, the owner of Supreme Hotel,
Mr. Felix Akhabue, who claimed ignorant of the killing, however said a hotel is a public place. In Benin-City, one Jonathan, a musician, was said to have been killed at Atlantic Hotel, opposite the popular Ekiosa market in the heart of the city.
An eye witness who pleaded anonymity alleged that Jonathan belonged to the 'Eiye' confraternity.
According to the witness, the resultant effect of Jonathan's death sparked off the reprisal among the various cult groups.
This, he said, resulted to the killing of about five persons last Saturday at different locations around Upper Sakponba area of the city.
He said the police seemed unaware or that they feel helpless on how to curtail the killings.
Attempt made to get police comments on the cults members killings failed as the state Commissioner of Police,
Mr. Foluso Adebanjo, referred journalists to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) who failed to answer several phone calls put across to him.
